Our Commitment

At Project Renewal we strive to embed diversity, equity, and inclusion into every aspect of our work, because our city’s homelessness crisis is deeply rooted in systemic inequity and discrimination.

There are tens of thousands of people sleeping in shelters and on New York City streets each night, many of whom have been marginalized because of their race, mental and physical disabilities, struggles with substance use, sexual orientation, gender identity, criminal justice involvement, or lack of documentation.

As a social services agency, we commit ourselves to a true civic partnership with people that have been most affected by homelessness, and many of our staff belong to these communities. We aspire to create a culture where staff and clients experience a sense of belonging based on their full identity.

Project Renewal envisions a New York City where all people have equitable access to stable housing, integrated healthcare, and gainful employment at a living wage.
