HEALTH

We were the first to put mental health workers in a van and go to the streets, and we still provide psychiatric care to drop-in centers all over the city.

When we opened the first non-medical detox in the United States, we gave "public inebriates" on the Bowery a chance to find sobriety in a bed instead of a jail cell.

We design holistic treatments that integrate primary care, mental health services, and addiction treatment as needed. We deliver care where homeless New Yorkers live to ensure access for those who need it most.

HOMES

We create housing that brings all the services at-risk New Yorkers need under one roof--their roof. We developed one of the first Housing First programs--providing a home and care to people barred from traditional housing models due to ongoing substance use. Since the 1960s our approach remains unchanged--we see beyond the stigma of mental illness or substance use disorder to our clients' potential.

Today we continue to break new ground in architectural design, bringing together our experts to create sustainable spaces and services that help end the cycle of homelessness.

JOBS

We launch social enterprises with a double bottom line: they create a funding stream to support our programs as well as provide employment for unemployed New Yorkers.

We use targeted job training approaches for clients with mental illness, veterans, people recovering from addiction and those with criminal histories and integrate job training and placement into all our programs. Our community-based approach delivers employment services where our clients live.

We get adults into living wage jobs quickly and help them stay employed.
