Assistant Shelter Director, 185th Street Shelter

Required Credentials:

BA with experience working in shelters, preferably with young adults who identify as being part of the LGBTQ community. Must have good communication skills.

Required Experience

Minimum three (3) years working in the shelter system, at least one (1) of them in a supervisory capacity.

Responsibilities:

The Assistant Shelter Director's responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

In the absence of the shelter director, has overall responsibility for operating a 80 bed shelter for homeless young adults

Ensuring compliance with established DHS outcomes regarding placements, long term stayers, placement retention and facility standards and goals as well as Project Renewal's performance and quality assurance measurements

Supervise the shift supervisors and residential aides

Facilitate staff and team meetings

Interface with the community, neighborhood associations and other local service providers
