Building Careers in Care
Care Corps Behavioral Health Training Program helps people who are passionate about mental health build the skills and confidence to launch meaningful careers. This free, six-week program combines classroom learning with hands-on experience to prepare participants for entry-level roles supporting individuals with serious mental illness.
In the classroom, participants gain a strong foundation in behavioral health, including recovery-oriented practice, effective communication, and professional and career development skills. They also participate in a simulated clinical environment through NYC Health + Hospitals, practicing real-world scenarios and receiving personalized feedback from experienced staff.

After graduation, Project Renewal staff assists with job applications and interview preparation, making for a smooth transition into the behavioral health workforce. By training compassionate, job-ready professionals, Care Corps is addressing New York City’s growing need for skilled behavioral health workers — one person, one career, and one community at a time.
“It’s amazing to see patients feel comfortable enough to open up and share their stories with me. It’s not just about the paycheck. It’s the sense of purpose I get from doing this work that really gets me.”
— River, Care Corps Graduate
