Preventing Homelessness After Incarceration

Project Renewal’s Parole Support and Treatment Program (PSTP) aims to help formerly incarcerated individuals integrate seamlessly back into the community. Our work together begins before release, as we connect individuals with a mental health diagnosis to the services and support they will need when they return home.

Almost 25% of people released from prison go directly into the shelter system. Our PSTP program stops that pipeline. We place individuals directly into housing with supportive services, immediately providing them with a home of their own. In addition to transitional and permanent housing, PSTP also offers case management services that connect formerly incarcerated adults who identify as women to vital community resources and care.

We remain connected to all of our clients, meeting on a weekly basis, to ensure they are receiving the support and guidance they need as they navigate this transition. With a staff of psychiatrists, nurses, occupational therapists, and case managers, we provide assistance through counseling, mental health and substance use services, life skills training, peer support, crisis intervention, and job training.

“I am so grateful Project Renewal reached out while I was incarcerated at Sing Sing Correctional Facility. I am very excited about my apartment in the Bronx. I am thankful for this wonderful life and the opportunity that Project Renewal has given me.” – Michael
