Mental Healthcare for All New Yorkers

Mental illness is one of the leading causes of homelessness among single adults in the United States. Project Renewal primarily focuses on supporting individuals who are unhoused, or experiencing housing instability or financial insecurity. We provide all patients with high quality outpatient adult psychiatric care (18 yrs+) through our Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) clinics, mobile medical vans, shelters, transitional, and permanent supportive housing, and substance user health programs.

Our psychiatrists and nurse practitioners provide comprehensive, evidence-based, trauma-informed mental health services, and specialize in psychiatric evaluations and medication management of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression, PTSD, anxiety disorders, and substance use disorder. We respect our clients’ agency and work together to tailor services to meet their individual mental health goals and needs.

“We work toward stability and independence for our clients, while creating innovative programs that fill the gaps caused by the fractured system in which we work.” – Dr. Miranda Von Dornum, Chief Medical Officer

Project Renewal knows that proper diagnosis and treatment of mental illness is key to helping an individual overcome homelessness, and that access to stable housing improves long-term outcomes for mental health. Our interdisciplinary mental health team works with our clients as they work toward living independently, and after they move into a home of their own.
