Chief Medical Officer
"Working at Project Renewal provides the opportunity to practice and promote healthcare in an integrated setting, collaborating across disciplines to meet the needs of some of the most vulnerable residents of New York City."

Dr. Miranda von Dornum, MD, PhD, is Project Renewal’s Chief Medical Officer. She joined Project Renewal in 2020 just before the COVID-19 pandemic, and immediately swung into action, helping navigate the ever-changing medical information, regulations, and best practices. As Chief Medical Officer, she oversees the Healthcare Department, including a Federally Qualified Health Center with four clinics and two medical vans; embedded psychiatry programs in shelters and housing; and outpatient and residential substance use treatment programs.

Dr. Miranda conducted her medical studies at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and her residency in Internal Medicine/Primary Care at Alameda County Medical Center. She also holds a PhD in Biological Anthropology from Harvard University. She has worked at Community Health Centers throughout her career, and has worked in homeless health since 2012 when she began working with the Community Medicine Program at NYU, the oldest homeless healthcare program in the country.
